Our Story

Old Climbing Rope and a Van

Woolly Wolf was born from a deep connection to nature and a life on the road. Our founders, Maria and Henri Vanonen travelled across Europe in a self-converted camper van with their dog Yoda. From the dramatic peaks of the Alps to the quiet wilderness of Lapland, these landscapes inspired a new kind of dog gear: something durable, practical, and visually clean that could keep up with a life of adventure.

The First Rope Leash

It all started with a piece of retired climbing rope. Back in 2016, Maria hand-tied the very first Woolly Wolf leash for Yoda using rope from her local climbing gym. This became the blueprint for our products. Developed just like professional climbing gear, our Rope Leashes feature a kernmantle core that provides a "gentle catch" during sudden pulls. It was the perfect blend of design and recycled materials that set the standard for everything we make today.

Inspired by the nature

While we now operate from Helsinki, our heart remains in the wild. Every Woolly Wolf product is designed in Finland, with every detail, color, and material carefully considered. Our collections, with names like Glacier Green and Northern Lights, draw directly from the Nordic nature that first sparked our brand. We aim to equip the "modern wolf" for every journey, whether it is an everyday city walk or a long trek into the backcountry.

The Future is Recycled

Named after the ancient Himalayan wolves distinctive from its peers, Woolly Wolf has since the beginning had a vision to do business differently. What began as a single rope leash has grown into a full range of dog harnesses, collars, and accessories.

We are proud forerunners in using recycled PET bottles as our main ingredient. Turning waste into high-quality, durable gear.
